Oz Air Automotive is a specialist mobile automotive air conditioning service working across the western suburbs of Melbourne. Air conditioning is all we do. We are not a general mechanical workshop that also does re-gasses — it is the whole trade, and after fifteen years it is the only thing in the van.
Being mobile is a deliberate choice rather than a limitation. Most air conditioning work can be done properly wherever the vehicle is parked, and for trucks, machinery and fleet vehicles it is the only sensible option — taking a prime mover or an excavator to a workshop costs more in downtime than the repair does. So we come to your driveway, your workplace car park, the depot, the yard or the paddock.
We hold ARC Licence AU28157, issued by the Australian Refrigeration Council. That licence is a legal requirement for anyone handling automotive refrigerant in Australia, and it is worth checking before you let anyone touch your system: unlicensed operators cannot legally buy or recover refrigerant, and venting it to atmosphere is an offence. We are also set up for R1234yf, the mildly flammable refrigerant fitted to most vehicles built since about 2017, which requires separate equipment and recovery gear — a good number of workshops still turn those cars away.
Our approach is simple enough to state in a sentence: test before quoting, quote before working, and show you the result at the end. If a repair is not worth doing on the vehicle's value, we would rather tell you than sell it to you.

What we bring with us
The difference between a mobile service and a man with a can of gas is what is in the van. Ours carries a recovery and recharge machine, a vacuum pump deep enough to boil moisture out of a system, manifold gauges, dry nitrogen for leak testing, both R134a and R1234yf, the right PAG oils, UV dye, seals and O-rings.
It also carries hose stock and crimping equipment, which is what lets us finish jobs other mobile operators have to book back in — on older vehicles and machinery the factory line often isn't available at all, so we make up what fits.
