Pulling a system into a deep vacuum does two jobs at once. It drops the boiling point of water far below ambient temperature so any moisture inside turns to vapour and gets drawn out, and it gives us a sealed system under negative pressure that we can then watch.
That watching is the test. We close the valves and monitor the vacuum. If it holds, the system is sealed and safe to charge. If it creeps back toward atmospheric, there is a leak, and no amount of refrigerant will fix that — we stop and tell you rather than charging a system we know will empty.
It is an unglamorous step and it is the single biggest difference between a service that lasts and one that doesn’t.
